Joseph Lappie is the chair of Art & Performing Arts and a full professor of the Art + Design department at St. Ambrose University, teaching artist’s books, bookbinding, papermaking, printmaking, & drawing. He received a BFA in Graphic Design and a BFA in Painting from Ball State University and an MFA in Interdisciplinary Book & Paper Arts from Columbia College Chicago. Joseph works to provide art as therapy through collaborations with the Peace Paper Project, Ukraïne Haus, and Ukraïne Maja. Additionally, he works with his community providing free or near-free workshops in book/paper/print and providing protest printed protest posters as needed. Joseph shows his installation print work and artist’s books throughout the country. He has shown in Atlanta, Chicago, Iowa City, London, New York, Washington D.C., Portland, and Seoul. His book work is collected in multiple collections including Yale Arts Library, SAIC, Ringling College of Art & Design, and the Jaffe Book Arts Collection.
